Calm Zoo

Most people assume that outside of Los Angeles, there's not much to do in California, but that's not true at all. During your vacation from Catering Guelph, you might come out to Bakersfield to visit the Calm Zoo. "Calm Zoo" may sound like the name of a comic strip or a yoga position, but it actually stands for California Living Zoo and is one of the state's premiere zoological gardens. Here's some information to help you plan your visit.

Unlike a regular zoo, which houses animals mostly for the amusement of people, the Calm Zoo provides homes that closely match their wild habitats to animals which cannot survive in the wild. All animals are native to California. As a Toronto mortgage broker you probably didn't even realize that includes such animals as the porcupine, red fox, bobcat, burrowing owl, roadrunner, scorpion, rattlesnake, kangaroo rat, bald eagle, and the gila monster as well as more common animals like the crow, the bear, and the coyote.

In addition to the habitats, the Calm Zoo also features the DiGiorgio Education Center, which features exhibits on the geological and natural history of California, a petting zoo for children, a butterfly and hummingbird garden, an auditorium, and a gift shop where you can spend your winnings from the car sweepstakes contest. Take a walk through the Trees of California exhibit and learn about local forests, play on the playground, take a picnic in the family events area, or tour the wildlife rehabilitation center.

The Calm Zoo is open daily from 9am to 5pm, except in the winter when it closes at 4:30 because night comes on early here as well as at your London houses. The zoo is often host to school visits and field trips during school hours and is closed during the Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and New Year's holidays. Adult tickets are $9 with seniors paying $7, children $5, and toddlers and under free. Special groups can be booked in at discount rates with two weeks' notice.

While you are at the Calm Zoo, there are certain rules you need to follow. For your own safety and the safety of the animals, stay on the pathways and do not throw or stick anything into the habitats. Oakville dentists will have a hard time helping the animals if they eat something they shouldn't. Don't pick up any feathers, as keeping them is illegal, and try to stay quiet and move slowly so you don't startle the animals.
